How you can help the Retirement Trust Foundation

The RTF has been able to provide so many services through the generous support of all IAAP members. We are eternally grateful for your support throughout the years, and we're thrilled to know that so many people continue to be involved with the Trust. There are lots of ways you can help.

The first thing you can do is tell everyone about us! Download our PowerPoint presentation for use at a chapter meeting! It's approximately ten minutes long and will let all your members know about the many projects the Trust supports and how those projects can benefit each and every IAAP member.

Here are some other ways to help the RTF:

  • Raffles continue to be a big hit. Try a "50/50" Raffle, where half the money is considered a donation to the RTF, and the other half is given to the winner as a prize. Or how about a "nose-to-toes" raffle, where everyone is given the number of tickets it takes to stretch from his or her head to toes?
  • Try a "scavenger hunt." Sell cards with different items on them, like "a red dress," "a bird's nest," or "a silver spoon." Before a meeting, hide each item somewhere around the room or even as a graphic in a presentation. At the end of the meeting, whoever manages to fill their whole scavenger hunt card wins a share of the prize!
  • One of the best pieces of advice when it comes to fundraising is this: Keep people active! How about a race? Sell ping-pong balls and have each participant mark them in permanent ink. At the count of three, everyone drop your ping-pong ball from above your head, and the ball that crosses the finish line first wins!
  • The Trust also produces a commemorative pin each year. If you'd like to purchase one for yourself or as a gift for a special chapter member, contact headquarters or one of the trustees.
  • Purchase a patio paver at Vista Grande for your chapter or someone you'd like to honor. To download the patio paver information, you'll need Adobe Acrobat, which you can get here.
  • One of our Committee Members reports: we are planning to use our usual “tax bags.” We assess members a 25 cent tax for any number of violations - forgetting your name badge, not having your Christmas shopping done, not greeting a new member - you get the picture.  We will also be raffling a Christmas wreath!
  • From Linda Cook, Former Trustee: "Our chapter does a Holiday Auction every November with a portion of the proceeds going to the RTF. We do both a silent and live auction. Members donate new or gently used items for the silens auction and many hand-made items for the live auction. We also get donations from local businesses. It makes for a lively evening and we raise around $1500 every year. We invite all the local chapters, friends and family members to attend." Here's a sample of the flyer Linda's chapter has used to advertise their Holiday Auction.
  • Deanna Brown submitted this RTF calendar for use during November!
  • Become a Retirement Trust Foundation Committee Member or an RTF Trustee!

If you have an idea not here, please email us! We'd love to add it to the list and share it with all IAAP members!
